Central Florida Scottish Highlands (Weekend Event)

The Central Florida Scottish Highland Festival will be held the weekend of January 19-20 this year.

I've never been to this event but I love this kind of stuff.  There's something fun and exciting about Scottish heritage.  If it's anything like the Renaissance Faire in the Fall it should be a great time!  Good news/Bad news doesn't look like you have to dress-up in period attire either.

Since its our first time going I think we'll try the Sunday games first.  It's a condensed schedule, but that will work fine for us.  Looks like all the groups are still performing, and they still have the Athletic Competitions. Kids can still participate in most of kid activities (from face painting to trying out their athletic skill).  The only big thing happening Saturday vs. Sunday appears to be the Disney stuff promoting their move "Brave".  However, I think that's an additional reason to go Sunday, since without Disney it should be less crowded.

This festival will fit in well with our study of the Celts and Olympics too, Bonus!

The festival will be held at Central Winds Park in Winter Springs, off 434 near 417.
Use this address to get directions: 1000 Central Winds Drive, Winter Springs, FL

Prices are cheaper online than at the gate.  It's a bit complicated depending on if you want to go Saturday or Sunday, so for simplicity here's the link.
